Issues

  • Voting rights are the foundation of our democracy, and every person in the commonwealth deserves the uninfringed right to cast their ballot and make their voice heard. Despite this, we have seen attacks on our most fundamental right in recent years. If elected, Megan will consistently work to protect everyone’s right to vote.

  • A person’s right to bodily autonomy is among their most fundamental, essential rights. Banning abortion creates barriers to safe, essential healthcare, putting women’s lives at risk. Abortion is healthcare, and access to safe and legal abortion saves lives. If elected, Megan will always be a strong advocate for a woman’s right to reproductive freedom!

  • Pennsylvania is one of the largest sources of greenhouse gasses in our entire county. Clean energy is an excellent opportunity for us to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels, decrease our carbon footprint, and create new high paying jobs across the Commonwealth. Using clean energy will also help us to create safer communities and promote health in all of our communities.

  • Small businesses are essential to the local economy and community. Megan’s father runs a small contracting business, so she and her family understand the highs and the lows of running a small business. It is a top priority for Megan to secure funding and support for small businesses and create the same opportunity that the wealthy have for average people to run businesses of their own.

  • Every child deserves a top-tier education, no matter their ZIP code or school district. Investing in our future means investing in our schools and our youth, so to ensure an equitable, prosperous future, we need to make sure schools are fully funded without burdening our property taxpayers. Megan is committed to ensuring our local schools are fully funded.

  • Megan understands how property tax impacts low-income families and seniors on fixed incomes. The fact is that those with the lowest incomes bear the largest burden when it comes to property tax. She supports a property tax 'circuit breaker,' which would function as a cap, ensuring that the tax never exceeds a certain percentage of one's income.

  • Megan understands the struggle that many people are face in finding affordable, accessible healthcare. No one should have to go without medical treatment because they can’t afford it. If elected, she will advocate for affordable healthcare and work to ensure that all Pennsylvania residents can access necessary lifesaving treatment.

  • 16.8% of children in Luzerne County experience food insecurity, and about 23% of those children are likely ineligible for federal nutrition programs. Megan is committed to addressing this major issue by expanding nutrition programs and fighting for universal school lunches across the commonwealth, because every child deserves to eat.

  • Pennsylvania is surrounded by states who have legalized recreational cannabis, and we're losing tax revenue every single time someone drives to a neighboring state to purchase it. This is money that could be fixing our roads or funding our schools, so it's past time we legalize cannabis and reap the economic benefits.

  • U.S. labor law recognizes workers' rights to unionize, though it isn't a right that is enshrined in our state constitution. Megan is in favor of making this fundamental right a part of the Pennsylvania Constitution.

  • Our Democracy is built upon the idea of one person one vote, but that isn't reality when corporations and the mega rich are able to buy elections and politicians. Megan will support legislation to get big money out of politics so working class people have an equal opportunity to make their voices heard.

  • Megan recognizes that without term limits, political elites are able to gain an unfair amount of control over our political system. Term limits will ensure that new people have the ability to hold office and offer unique experiences and ideas to address everyday problems.
